Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez and Farm Share helped feed thousands of Miami-Dade families during a free drive-thru food distribution held Saturday at the Coral Reef Tax Collector Office.
Tax Collector employees, Farm Share staff, volunteers, and community partners worked together to distribute fresh food and groceries to residents. The event brought assistance directly into the community at a location families already rely on for essential government services.
“Today, thousands of families left our Coral Reef office with food for their homes knowing that their community stands with them,” said Fernandez. “Public service is about understanding the needs of the people we serve and using every opportunity to make their lives a little easier.”
“Our offices belong to the communities we serve,” Fernandez continued. “I am grateful to Farm Share, our dedicated employees, and volunteers for coming together to deliver meaningful help directly to Miami-Dade families. This is what can be accomplished when government and community organizations work side by side and put people first.”
The distribution reflects Fernandez’s continued commitment to using Tax Collector locations not only to provide essential government services, but also to connect residents with valuable community resources. Through partnerships with trusted organizations such as Farm Share, the Tax Collector’s Office is working to bring government closer to the people and make its locations more accessible, responsive, and community-centered.
