Miami-Dade County residents can now apply for or renew a Disabled Parking Permit online through PERMiO, the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s secure parking placard application system.
With PERMiO, applicants can begin the process online and have their medical provider complete the required certification electronically. This eliminates the need to bring completed medical forms to an office and helps make the application process safer, simpler, and faster while reducing fraud and improving service.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to use PERMiO. Paper applications may still be accepted at a Miami-Dade County Tax Collector office for customers who require in-person assistance.
Applicants must have one of the following documents issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles:
An exemption may be authorized by the certifying medical provider when an applicant is physically unable to visit or be transported to a driver license office to obtain the required identification.
Applicants using PERMiO will have their medical eligibility certified electronically by an authorized medical provider.
Applicants submitting a paper application in person must provide a completed Application for Disabled Person Parking Permit, Form HSMV 83039.
Permanent parking permits may be issued for up to four years and expire on the permit holder’s birthday.
Temporary parking permits may be issued for up to six months, based on the period specified by the certifying medical provider.
An additional permanent parking permit may be issued to an applicant who:
Is certified as a frequent traveler.
Organizations that regularly transport persons with disabilities must provide either:
The identifying number will be printed on the disabled parking permit.
An eligible organization may receive one permit for each vehicle regularly used to transport persons with disabilities.
When a vehicle is parked in a designated accessible parking space, the disabled parking permit must be displayed by hanging it from the vehicle’s rearview mirror.
The permit is assigned to the permit holder’s Florida driver license or identification card—not to a particular vehicle. It may be used in any vehicle transporting the permit holder, provided that the permit holder is present.
The permit should be removed from the rearview mirror before the vehicle is driven.
Use PERMiO to apply for a new Disabled Parking Permit or renew an existing permit.
Safe. Simple. Fast.
Disabled person parking permits are given to people who are medically certified to have long-term, permanent or temporary mobility impairment, or who are certified legally blind or temporarily sight-impaired.
