Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez met with residents during a Cafecito Connection gathering at Islas Canarias Restaurant, creating an informal opportunity for members of the community to speak directly with the Tax Collector about the issues that matter to them and learn more about the work being done by his office.
The gathering brought public service to a familiar community setting, allowing residents to share ideas, ask questions, raise concerns, and discuss their experiences with local government. Fernandez also provided updates on the Tax Collector’s Office and its continuing efforts to improve accessibility, efficiency, and customer service throughout Miami-Dade County.
“Government works best when the people we serve know that they can sit down with us, ask questions, share their concerns, and know that someone is paying attention,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Cafecito Connection is about keeping that relationship personal. Sometimes the most important conversations do not happen behind a desk or at a government building. They happen over a cup of coffee with the people we have the privilege of serving.”
Fernandez emphasized that maintaining a direct connection with residents helps public officials better understand how policies and services affect people in their everyday lives. These conversations also provide an opportunity to identify concerns, explain available services, and ensure that residents know where to turn when they need assistance from the Tax Collector’s Office.
Cafecito Connection reflects Fernandez’s commitment to maintaining an accessible and community-focused Tax Collector’s Office. Fernandez thanked Islas Canarias Restaurant for its hospitality and the residents who participated, noting that strong public service begins with being present in the community and remembering that government ultimately exists to serve its people.
