Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined the City of Coral Gables in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the extraordinary courage of the first responders, public servants, and everyday Americans who responded with bravery and selflessness.
Twenty-five years later, September 11 remains a solemn reminder of the pain our nation endured and of the strength, unity, and patriotism that followed. The anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the countless acts of courage that defined that day.
“September 11 is a day our nation will never forget,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “We remember every innocent life taken, every family that continues to carry that loss, and every hero who ran toward danger to help others. We also remember how Americans came together with strength, compassion, and love of country during one of the darkest moments in our history.”
Fernandez emphasized the importance of continuing to teach future generations about September 11 and the examples of service, courage, and sacrifice shown by first responders and citizens throughout the country. He noted that remembrance is not only about looking back, but also about honoring the values that united Americans in the days that followed.
Fernandez thanked the City of Coral Gables and its first responders for bringing the community together in remembrance. “May God bless the memory of those we lost, the families who continue to carry them in their hearts, our first responders, and the United States of America,” Fernandez said.
