Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined the Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board and community leaders to mark the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated this year under the theme, “Together, We Are More.” The event brought together residents, elected officials, and community voices to recognize the history, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic communities across Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade is home to people and families from across Latin America and the Caribbean, and that diversity continues to shape the identity of our county. From small businesses and neighborhoods to public service, education, and culture, Hispanic residents have played a vital role in building the community Miami-Dade is today.
“As your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I am proud to join in celebrating the many Hispanic communities that have helped shape our county,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “National Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the generations who came before us, honor the traditions they passed on, and celebrate the values that continue to strengthen our community.”
Fernandez noted that celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is not only about recognizing the past, but also about looking ahead to the future. He said Miami-Dade’s continued strength depends on supporting the next generation and ensuring that the culture, work ethic, and values that define so many Hispanic families remain an important part of the county’s future.
Fernandez thanked the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board and everyone involved in organizing the kickoff celebration. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving all residents of Miami-Dade County and celebrating the people and communities whose contributions continue to make the county stronger.
