Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park on Labor Day for a special game against the New York Mets, accompanied by his family and members of the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office team. Fernandez had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, marking a memorable moment made even more meaningful by sharing it with the people who support him both at home and in public service.

The Labor Day game also provided an opportunity to recognize the dedicated employees of the Tax Collector’s Office who serve Miami-Dade residents throughout the year. Members of the Tax Collector team were on site throughout the event, and the TConnect Mobile Tax Collector Office was available to assist residents and baseball fans with Tax Collector services, including helping eligible customers obtain the Miami Marlins specialty license plate while attending the game.

“As your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I know that everything we accomplish begins with our people,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Labor Day is an opportunity to recognize the value of hard work and the men and women whose dedication keeps our communities moving. I was proud to share this special day with members of our Tax Collector team, my family, and the Miami Marlins. Having TConnect on site also allowed us to do what we do best: bring services directly to the people and make it easier for Marlins fans to show their hometown pride with a Marlins specialty license plate.”

During the visit, Fernandez also presented the Miami Marlins with an Honorary Citation recognizing the organization’s importance to Miami-Dade County and its continued commitment to the community. He thanked Caroline O’Connor, President of Business Operations, and the entire Miami Marlins organization for the invitation and warm welcome. Fernandez also thanked Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis for sharing in the occasion and recognized the Tax Collector employees who joined him at loanDepot park and helped serve residents throughout the day.

Fernandez noted that the Miami Marlins are an important part of the fabric of South Florida, bringing families together, supporting community initiatives, and contributing to the local economy. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to build relationships with organizations that invest in Miami-Dade while using initiatives such as TConnect to make government services more convenient, accessible, and connected to the communities the office serves.
