Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez visited Robert Is Here in Homestead, a family-owned business that has been part of the South Florida community since 1959. What began with six-year-old Robert Moehling selling cucumbers from a roadside stand has grown into a multigenerational business and one of South Miami-Dade’s most recognizable local destinations.
For more than six decades, Robert Is Here has welcomed residents and visitors while maintaining the character of a true family business. Its history reflects the determination, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit that have allowed generations of small businesses to grow alongside the communities they serve.
“Businesses like Robert Is Here are part of the story of Miami-Dade,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “What started with one young boy selling cucumbers became a business known by generations of families throughout South Florida. That kind of history is built through hard work, consistency, and a commitment to the community, and those are qualities worth recognizing.”
As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, Fernandez emphasized the important role locally owned businesses play in creating jobs, supporting families, and strengthening the local economy. He noted that staying connected with business owners and learning directly about their experiences helps government better understand the challenges and opportunities facing the entrepreneurs who invest in Miami-Dade.
Fernandez thanked the Moehling family and the entire Robert Is Here team for the warm welcome and for more than 60 years of commitment to the South Florida community. He encouraged residents to continue supporting the family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs that help give Miami-Dade’s cities and neighborhoods their unique character.
