Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez will receive the Community Leadership Award at the 2026 Supreme Twins Foundation Annual Gala on September 12, 2026.
The award recognizes Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez for his leadership, commitment to public service, and work to make government more accessible, efficient, and responsive.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from the Supreme Twins Foundation, an organization whose work provides hope, opportunity, and critical support to individuals with disabilities and their families,” said Fernandez. “This recognition belongs to our entire team, whose dedication allows us to serve Miami-Dade County every day. We remain committed to delivering accessible and accountable services while earning the public’s trust.”
Together with his team, the office has expanded driver license and motor vehicle services, opened additional locations, introduced Saturday hours, launched a virtual queuing system, installed self-service kiosks at Public locations, and brought services directly into the community through a mobile office. The office also established Neuro-Inclusive Service Days, strengthened enforcement against fraud and abuse, and conducted a comprehensive review of disabled parking permits.
His administration has paired these improvements with fiscal responsibility. In April, the office transferred $20 million in surplus collections to Miami-Dade County more than six months ahead of the traditional year-end schedule, helping the County cover the cost of maintaining Special Transportation Services and waiving parking fees at certain County parks.
The Supreme Twins Foundation provides therapy, education, family support, and opportunities that empower individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and reach their full potential.
