Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined the Dade County Farm Bureau for visits to local farms across South Miami-Dade, spending time with farmers and agricultural leaders whose work continues to play an important role in the region’s economy, food supply, and identity.
Agriculture has long been part of the foundation of South Miami-Dade. Behind every farm are families, employees, and business owners whose daily work helps feed communities, create jobs, support local commerce, and preserve an industry that has shaped the area for generations.
“As your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I believe it is important to hear directly from the people whose work keeps important parts of our local economy moving,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Our farmers understand the challenges facing agriculture because they live them every day. Listening to their experiences and learning more about what they need is essential to helping keep this industry strong for future generations.”
Fernandez emphasized that supporting agriculture also means recognizing farmers as business owners and employers who invest directly in Miami-Dade County. He noted that maintaining open communication with the agricultural community helps government better understand the realities facing local farms and the importance of preserving opportunities for those who want to continue working the land.
Fernandez thanked the Dade County Farm Bureau and the local farmers who opened their doors and shared their experiences. He reaffirmed his commitment to staying connected with South Miami-Dade’s agricultural community and recognizing the families and businesses whose hard work continues to strengthen the county.
