Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez attended the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Miami Reception honoring Rick Sasso, Chairman of MSC Cruises North America, joining community and business leaders for an evening celebrating Italian American heritage, leadership, and contributions to South Florida. During the reception, Fernandez presented Sasso with an Honorary Citation recognizing his leadership and impact on the community.
Sasso’s work with MSC Cruises reflects the important role the cruise and tourism industries play in Miami-Dade County’s economy. Through continued investment and growth in South Florida, the industry supports jobs, brings visitors to the region, and contributes to the network of businesses and workers that benefit from Miami-Dade’s position as a global tourism and maritime destination.
“Miami-Dade’s strength comes from the people who invest here, create opportunities, and contribute to the future of our community,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “It was a privilege to recognize Rick Sasso for his leadership and the role MSC Cruises continues to play in tourism, economic growth, and job creation in South Florida.”
Fernandez also highlighted the work of the National Italian American Foundation in preserving Italian American heritage while strengthening cultural, civic, and professional relationships. He noted that organizations such as NIAF help ensure that the history and traditions of previous generations remain connected to the leaders and opportunities of the future.
Fernandez congratulated Rick Sasso on the recognition and thanked NIAF for bringing the community together in Miami. He reaffirmed his commitment to recognizing the businesses, organizations, and individuals whose leadership and investment continue to strengthen Miami-Dade County.
