Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez met with Surfside Mayor Shlomo Danzinger and Interim Chief of Police Jay Matelis at Surfside Town Hall to discuss opportunities to strengthen collaboration and continue improving access to Tax Collector services for local residents. Fernandez was joined by Angela Boreland-Bas, Director of Finance, Accounting and Budget for the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office.
The meeting focused on maintaining strong communication between the Tax Collector’s Office and the Town of Surfside while identifying opportunities to better connect residents with essential services. By working directly with municipal leaders, the office can better understand the needs of individual communities and explore practical ways to make government services more convenient and accessible.
“As your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I believe strong relationships with our municipalities are essential to providing the level of service our residents deserve,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Meeting directly with local leaders allows us to better understand their communities, identify opportunities for collaboration, and continue bringing our services closer to the people we serve.”
Fernandez also highlighted the office’s broader efforts to expand access throughout Miami-Dade County through community outreach, the TConnect Mobile Tax Collector Office, and additional service options designed to make it easier for residents to connect with the office. He emphasized that continued coordination with municipalities remains an important part of creating a more responsive and accessible Tax Collector’s Office.
Fernandez thanked Mayor Shlomo Danzinger, Interim Chief Jay Matelis, and the Town of Surfside for the warm welcome and productive conversation. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the partnership and identifying new opportunities to provide efficient, accessible, and exceptional service to Surfside residents and communities throughout Miami-Dade County.
