Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez met with officials at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., for a discussion focused on national security, regional stability, and the importance of cooperation among different levels of government.
During the meeting, Fernandez discussed issues affecting South Florida and the broader region, including Cuba and the challenges he believes authoritarian communist and socialist governments can pose to regional stability and the national security of the United States. He emphasized the importance of maintaining communication between federal, state, and local officials when addressing matters that can have an impact on Miami-Dade residents and communities.
“Protecting the United States requires cooperation at every level of government,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “I am grateful to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the entire U.S. Department of State team for their time, professionalism, and commitment to discussing issues that are deeply important to our community and our country.”
Fernandez reaffirmed that the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office will continue carrying out its responsibilities within its legal authority while maintaining communication with federal, state, and local officials when appropriate. He stressed that accountability, cooperation, and respect for the law must remain central to the work of government.
Fernandez thanked Secretary Rubio and the U.S. Department of State team for the opportunity to meet and exchange perspectives. He reiterated his commitment to serving Miami-Dade residents while supporting efforts that promote the security and stability of the United States and the region.
