Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Visits Duffy’s Tavern, Recognizing a West Miami Small Business Serving the Community for Generations

Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez visited Duffy’s Tavern in West Miami, a longtime local establishment that has served generations of residents since 1955. For more than 70 years, Duffy’s has remained part of the fabric of West Miami, representing the type of neighborhood business that becomes more than a place to eat or gather. It becomes part of a community’s history.

During the visit, Fernandez met with Junior Silva and the Duffy’s Tavern team to learn more about the business and recognize its longstanding presence in West Miami. Businesses that remain rooted in a community for generations help preserve local traditions while creating jobs, supporting families, and contributing to the local economy.

“Duffy’s Tavern represents what makes our local business community so special,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “For more than 70 years, generations of residents have walked through these doors. Businesses like Duffy’s become part of the identity of the communities they serve, and their success means jobs, opportunities, and economic activity right here in Miami-Dade.”

As the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, Fernandez emphasized that supporting businesses also means making government easier to navigate. The Tax Collector’s Office administers Local Business Tax Receipts and works with businesses throughout Miami-Dade County, giving the office an important responsibility to provide entrepreneurs with efficient service and clear information as they operate and grow.

Fernandez thanked Junior Silva and the entire Duffy’s Tavern team for their hospitality and for continuing a West Miami tradition that has endured for more than seven decades. He encouraged residents to support established neighborhood businesses as well as the next generation of entrepreneurs investing in communities across Miami-Dade.
