As part of the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s ongoing Pet of the Week initiative, Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez continues to highlight animals waiting for adoption and encourage residents to support local animal welfare efforts.

Each week, the campaign features two pets currently in the care of Miami-Dade Animal Services, helping connect residents with animals looking for a second chance and a loving home.

This week’s featured pets are Butch Brown (#A2067911), a 9-year-old American Bulldog mix, and Lindsay (#A2263162), a sweet 5-year-old tabby cat. Both are looking for families ready to give them the care and loving homes they deserve.

Butch Brown has been waiting for a second chance since March. Shelter life has been difficult for this sweet senior, who continues to struggle with chronic stress and desperately needs a home where he can decompress. Butch loves playing fetch and splashing in the pool, and he deserves to spend his golden years feeling safe, comfortable, and loved.

Lindsay was recently surrendered after her owner had to move to a home that did not allow pets. This lovable girl is looking for a fresh start and a family who will give her the love and care she deserves. Lindsay is carrying some extra weight and would benefit from a healthy diet to help her reach a healthier weight. She is ready to leave the shelter behind and find a loving home of her own.

Local shelters regularly care for dogs and cats that have been lost, abandoned, surrendered, or separated from their families. While they wait for placement, shelter teams provide food, medical treatment, behavioral support, enrichment, and daily care.

Adoption gives shelter pets a permanent home while also creating space and resources for other animals in need. Fostering is another valuable option, particularly for pets that may benefit from time outside the shelter before finding their permanent families.

Residents who are not ready to adopt or foster can still make a difference by volunteering, donating needed supplies, sharing the weekly featured pets, and encouraging friends and family to consider shelter adoption.

Through the Pet of the Week campaign, the Tax Collector’s Office hopes to give shelter animals greater visibility and help connect more of them with families across Miami-Dade County.

Residents can learn more about Butch Brown, Lindsay, and other available pets by scanning the QR codes included in the weekly graphics or by contacting Miami-Dade Animal Services.
