Understand how vehicle ownership is shared when a title is issued to two owners.

In Florida, the title for a vehicle, mobile home, or vessel may list two or more owners. The ownership designation is determined by the use of either "and" or "or", which defines how ownership responsibilities and title transfers are handled.

When owners are joined by "and", all listed owners share equal ownership responsibilities. To transfer the title, each owner must either be present, designate a Power of Attorney, or sign the title certificate as the seller.

When owners are joined by "or", either owner may act independently. Only one owner is required to be present or sign the bill of sale or title documents to complete the transfer.
